There has been a sharp rise in demand for air conditioning units worldwide. The global rise in temperature is fueling this trend, as while countries with temperate climates are experiencing more frequent abnormal temperatures, the problem is exacerbated in hot countries. The accelerated expansion of appliances is increasing pressure on local energy supplies, hampering efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and jeopardising the energy sector’s goals on greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
