Heat pumps constitute a low-carbon heating system whose widespread implementation constitutes a critical technology for the decarbonization of heating. Even considering current global power generation matrices, which have a high share of fossil fuels, it is estimated that 96% of global demand for heating could be met with lower carbon dioxide emissions through the use of heat pumps.
