At the beginning of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic had not yet reached Uruguay, a better known phenomenon of the energy orbit was beginning to be palpable. Droughts tend to occur frequently, so far in the 21st century during 2004, 2006, 2008-09 and 2012 low hydraulicity was observed. However, the drought that has affected the region in the last two years stands out for its intensity and extent.
