Green hydrogen plays a central role in discussions about decarbonizing sectors where electrification is most challenging. In an international context marked by uneven progress and shifting expectations, Uruguay is beginning its own efforts in this area. This report analyzes the Kahirós project, a pioneering green hydrogen pilot for heavy transport, and examines its main features, operational logic, and significance within the country’s energy transition.
